I have had the opportunity to go on several trips to Canada, mostly it was for the fishing with some sight-seeing as well. If you have never taken trip to Canada you might want to fit into your schedule, this is some beautiful country with lots of wildlife and undisturbed country, that gives you a great appreciation for it. This is a place where you can get a wide variety of fishing in, and you are going to get a great opportunity to catch some nice size fish.
FISH YOU CHOOSE
The selection of fish in Canada is amazing definitely no shortage of species, when I had gone to Canada the few times that I have, I had the opportunity to go on a charter boat and we fished for Halibut. I was fortunate enough to pull in a 145 lb. fish very nice except for arms taking a beaten reeling that monster in, but it was well worth it, very exciting you just don’t think about how big those fish can get up to, I live in the Northwest and I have taken halibut charters here and the largest I ever caught was just under 80 lbs. and thought how cool that was, so you can imagine what I was thinking when I pulled in that 145 lb. halibut. Now I also planned another trip around the spring run for King Salmon, that was quite the sight it was like someone blew the dinner whistle and up they came fighting for position, it was great had no problems getting my limits on those days of salmon fishing.
As far as choices go you could go after steelhead, trout,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], bass,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], salmon, arctic char, channel catfish, whitefish,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], arctic grayling, and many more.
WHERE TO GO AND HOW LONG
When you plan a trip if you have the money you might want to use a charter service, you will get the most from the experience and I say this just because you can decide on what type of fishing you would like to do and they can tell you the dates that are best to go fishing on. Another nice thing about a charter is they already know the best spots to go, what type of gear and bait to use. Many of these charters will have the poles and gear on hand so you wont have to drag that stuff around. I call this the lazy man fishing cause they will normally clean your fish and package them for you as well.
Now if your on a budget don’t worry you can still plan a great trip, just do some research on, when the season is open or when the runs are at there peak. I'll tell you what I did ( look around make sure nobody else is around our secret okay). I found some charters on the internet called them up and asked them all the questions I needed. You want to get dates, locations, how the fishing has been past few years, type of bait or lures that work best, and type of equipment they recommend. I noticed if you talk to them like you would with one of your buddies they are very forthcoming with the information and they like to share fish stories and are more than willing to tell you about other areas if you ask. I actually called a few charters and did my some research on the internet to help me plan my trips .
MOTELS, CABINS, OR TENTS OH MY
Some of these charters will take you to such remote areas that they have to fly you in by helicopter or take you by boat, this means you will be staying in a cabin or a tent. Now if you decide you don’t want to get so far away from civilization no problem, you will be able to find plenty of places that have good fishing and yet are still close enough to stay in a motel, so many options and so much fun.
Personally when I did the trip without a charter I enjoyed it more just for the fact I wasn’t on any schedule, I decided what I wanted to fish for, say the salmon weren’t doing good I might want to do some trout fishing or bass, but I was never tied down to a schedule. I don’t know about you but I consider trips like this my vacation and the last thing I want to do is be on a schedule everyday.
I hope this gives you an insight on planning a Canadian fishing trip. Happy Fishing.
