They commonly referred to them as a kind of dog or deer, which is how pre-historic horses may have looked. Some scientists believe horses were once as small as a fox.
The Evolution of Horses

Horses were first domesticated around 3 puma espera,000 B.C. in the Middle East. Yet, horses didn’t return to the Americas until the Spaniards brought them in the late 1400s and none of those got much further north on the east coast than the present Florida. The re-introduced species also made their way north west of the Rocky Mountains Puma Footwear, following the spread of Mexican/Spanish settlements.
The use of dog teams to transport both people and goods has, in the snow bound northern reaches of the Province of Quebec, continued into the 21st century. As part of Quebec City’s annual winter carnival there are dog team races. A new era, however, is dawning. Snowmobiles are now being used for transportation in remote areas of Canada and Alaska.
When the horseless Governor Charles Huault de Montmagny (ca. 1583-1653), called “Onontio” by the Indians, arrived in Quebec in 1636, the Indians had no name for a horse.
Gov. Montmagny Gets a Horse
The first horse arrived in Canada from France in 1647. It was for Montmagny, who had been appointed Quebec’s first governor while Quebec founder Samuel de Champlain was still alive and acting as commandant.
