The unique aspect of the Buffalo chicken wings recipe, unlike other chicken wing recipes, is the double cooking process, they are so easy to make and so inexpensive they are a sure fire winner. Their popularity in America is quite remarkable and are available in nearly every eatery in the country. This is due to their cheapness but also due to their universal appeal, kids love them, adults love them, they’re great for a snack, for sharing, they are a wonderful dish to be able to whip up in whatever circumstances.
Homemade Buffalo Chicken Wings

For a good amount of Buffalo chicken wings you will need
EquipmentLarge mixing bowlA heavy frying pan or a deep fat fryerTongsSharp knife and chopping boardKitchen towelSaucepanWooden spoonIf you wish to finish the wings off on a barbeque you mayIngredients2 pounds of chicken wings, separated/cut in 2 down the middle jointPeanut oil for frying, this is not essential and you can use vegetable oil but, peanut oil is best4 good tbsp’s tabasco50 g’s or just under 2 oz’s butterSeasoned flour, around 4 good tbsp’s plain flour, 1 good tsp salt, 1 good tsp pepperMethodFirst of all we need to fry the wings.If you’re using a deep fat fryer then put it to around 220 degrees.If using the heavy pan, fill it with oil around half to two thirds of the way up and place it on a medium to high heat.Put your seasoned flour in the large bowl and add the chicken wings, toss until they get a good coating.Once the oil is hot take the wings from the bowl, give them a little shake to remove the excess flour and place them in the oil.Once the bowl is empty wash to re use.You will probably have to do these in batches as there won’t be room for all of them at once [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], use the tongs to manipulate them in the oil and be careful as it may spit.Once the wings are nicely brown and crispy remove and place them on the kitchen towel to soak up the excess oil.Whilst the Buffalo chicken wings are draining, place the butter in the saucepan and melt over a medium heat, using the spoon to stir.Once melted add the Tabasco to the butter, obviously if you like it hot, you can add more sauce.Once melted, add the buffalo chicken wings to the clean bowl [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then pour the sauce over the top, toss the chicken wings well in the sauce and leave for a few minutes for it to soak.You now need to choose how you wish to finish cooking the wings, you can barbeque them to get a really good flavour, or you can grill or bake in the oven.For the barbeque, use the tongs to turn them and cook for a few minutes either side until you can see the glaze caramelise.For the oven place on a baking tray and bake at around 220 degrees for around 10 minutes, again the glaze should caramelise.To grill simply grill your buffalo chicken wings, again for around 10 minutes until the glaze is caramelised.

There origin lies in one of three restaurants in Buffalo New York, these three restaurants, Duff’s, Rootie’s Pump Room and the Anchor Bar all dispute the credit for their creation, regardless of this one thing that can definitely be said is that this recipe is 100% American.
