The exhibit showcases The Met's collection of works by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) which spans the artist's all vocation and includes 34 paintings, 58 drawings, almost a dozen ceramic plaques and sculptures, as well as almost 400 prints.

There is, although, equitable an inferior annoyance: page mathematics listed on the Contents page do not match up with tangible page numbers and readers have to search cautiously for the start of every section. Hopefully, this will be corrected in the second version.
Gary Tinterow profiles how The Met's holdings amplified behind the initial alms, in 1947, of Picasso's portrait of Gertrude Stein (1906). The collection grew quickly through bequests and gifts from collectors such as Alfred Stieglitz, Scofield Thayer, Florene M. Schoenborn, Klaus and Dolly Perls, Jacques and Natasha Gelman. In truth, maximum of the works were gifts or bequests, with the exception of four paintings, 5 drawings, and 27 prints, which were bought.

A note of the item's provenance.Its exhibition history.Technical Notes invest the results of The Met's latest research. For example, a note, provided by Shawn Digney-Peer (Assistant Conservator, Paintings Conservation Department), discusses Picasso's Woman Ironing (1901). The author explains the results of x-radiotherapy examinations which reveal that, originally, the knuckles of the right hand were apparent. As the painting evolved the knuckles disappeared until only the thumb and forefinger tin be looked.
