Doha, the largest city in Qatar,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is the heart of economy of the country. Doha is the capital of Qatar and even serves as the seat of Government of Qatar. Doha is among the municipalities of Qatar and a home to the Education City,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], an initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, devoted to research and education. The city won its international popularity when it held Asian Games in 2006. They were the largest Asian Games in history, making Doha win an important place as a city in Gulf.

Doha is one of the most preferred career destinations for immigrants from all around the world. This claim is proved true by the fact that population of foreigners in Qatar is highly outnumbered by those of Qatari nationals. This is largely because people from various South Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines migrate to Doha to pursue diverse career opportunities. Moreover, concurrent flow of people from North Africa and East Asia add to the population of expatriates in Doha. Also, though in irregular numbers, there are people moving from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Australia and South Africa to take up jobs in the city of Doha. The primary inducement for these people to leave their nation and move to the Gulf region is that it offers affluent, high-income jobs to the well trained and qualified aspirants. Doha has huge demand for expatriates from diverse fields, thus, it can provide jobs in Oil & Gas, jobs in Healthcare, jobs in Teaching,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], jobs in Marketing, jobs in Real Estate, jobs in Banking, jobs in IT,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], jobs in Advertising, etc.

The lifestyle in Doha is comfortable and luxurious even for non-Qatari citizens. Incentives and perks coupled with high salaries make it all the more attractive for outsiders to get jobs in Gulf. For most upscale jobs in Doha, employers support the accommodation, transportation, medical insurance, one month trip to native country etc. apart from the tax-free salary. All the benefits combined together i.e. incentives, tax-free salary and other allowances become a key driver for expatriates to move to Doha in huge numbers. The city also serves people looking for jobs in middle and entry levels; such jobs are advertised mostly in newspapers, on job portals and on the organization’s website. With the noteworthy flow of foreign workforce in Doha, various laws have also been eased to enable a satisfied and enjoyable living for them.

The purchase of property by immigrants was discouraged in Doha earlier but with their ever increasing interest in settling down in the city,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they are now allowed to own land in some regions. With the ownership of land in Doha,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the expatriates become eligible for the renewal of residency permit that allows them to both live and work in Qatar. The voluminous rise in the population due to migration has now led to a shortage in housing resulting in high rentals and expensive residential property in Doha. In spite of facing these problems, an open and welcoming environment embraces individuals coming to the city. They are, in fact, absorbed immediately with the help of various networks that are instrumental in familiarizing them to city’s culture and environment.

Doha’s official religion is Islam, it is widely practiced across the city but is considered conservative by Western immigrants. But owing to the adaptable atmosphere in Doha, they also get used to their culture and way of living soon. A cultural flexibility could be seen in the region when building of churches was encouraged by especially dedicating an area for the same. They have also set up various international schools that cater to the educational needs of the children of the migrant population.

Since Doha is in a developing stage, trying to shift dependence and focus from oil and gas companies, there is a tremendous scope for excellent job opportunities coming up. The real estate sector offers maximum expansion with the growth in all other sectors.
