The Outer Banks of North Carolina provide an exquisite travel adventure here in the United States. Much of the area is protected by the United States government, so visitors tomorrow can experience the same as visitors of today. In these areas, you will come face to face with the Atlantic Ocean in its natural state. Here you will see wildlife, birds, reptiles and other creatures. You will find the active wind of the sea. You will leave with a renewed respect of the courage of the early English colonists that settled North Carolina and all they had to endure to stake a claim in America for a new life.

Several nature trails offer opportunities to view the forest and habitat. Visitors need to be aware that the area contains several types of poisonous snakes. Fishing and hunting are allowed.
