x Rodriguez is feeling pretty well after the arthroscopic surgery to which he was submitted on Wednesday to repair a torn cartilage on his right hip that was giving trouble to him. Rodriguez was offered three different types of surgery, but the time for recovery was very long so at the end he decided to have a "hybrid" method through arthroscopic surgery so he can recover faster; meanwhile, during the season he will be supervised by the Yankees doctors, he can have his cyst drained for more flexibility and see if he can continue playing or decide if he will have to be submitted to a complete surgical process.
If he has to be submitted to a more aggressive method, the Yankees are going to lose millions of dollars since Alex Rodriguez is the best paid player currently in the MLB, receiving just for this season $32 millions after signing a contract back in 2007 that was worth $275 million. They are trying to do all that they can to maintain the player in the field, but they know that there is a limit; this has been kind of painful to him since he played with discomfort last season and he is trying to look for relief this season.
Right now the priority for the Yankees General Manager moviescapital review, Brian Cashman, is to have Rodriguez back with a complete recovery from this surgery and in the meantime, he has decided that Cody Ransom is the one who is going to replace Rodriguez until he is back with the team. This decision of having Ransom replacing A-Rod is given because he was submitted to a not so invasive procedure and the time for him to recover will be shorter than it could have been; if Rodriguez had decided to have a complete surgical process the Yankees would have opted to trade a more experienced third baseman from another team.
Cashman stated that in the team there’s no need yet to discuss about trading someone, but if in some point they realize that they need to do it, they will, although it seems unlikely at the moment. He also said that for them Ransom is the most indicated player to substitute Rodriguez, since they use to train together. The Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi also considers that Ransom deserves a chance; time will tell if he can handle it.
