The Nokia 6085 is a great phone if you are just looking for a device to talk on. Furthermore, thanks to the respectable battery life, the Nokia 6085 makes a great backup phone for use in emergencies or as a device to travel long distances with. Nokia 6085 is a low-end Nokia clamshell device. It has been around in the market for several years now, and is still a decent phone for those who don't care about all of the high tech features that modern phones now have. Because it is aging, however, the Nokia 6085 lacks more than just the modern features - it lacks modern design, making this a device that has lived well past its prime. Last year, it would have been recommended, but now, unfortunately not.
Announced in September 2006, the Nokia 6085 is a quad band GSM device which can be used anywhere in the world. On your travels, all you have to do is swap out the SIM card with one from a local carrier, and you're all set. Unfortunately, however, because the Nokia 6085 is such an old device, it lacks high-speed data support over 3G networks. Instead [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it relies on the older GPRS/EDGE network for low speed data transfer over the cellular networks.
Measuring in at approximately 4 inches by 1.7 inches by 0.7 inches, the Nokia 6085 is a rather large phone - especially for a clamshell. However, it weighs a very light 84 grams.
Battery life is about average on the Nokia 6085. Expect to get approximately five hours of talk time or 240 hours of standby time on a single charge. Compared to many of the modern phones, this battery life is decent enough.
Unfortunately, the low quality displays really date the Nokia 6085. The main display, located inside of the phone, allows for only 128 by 160 pixels of resolution and a color depth of 262k colors. The secondary display on the outside of the device allows for only 96 by 68 pixels of resolution and shows images only in black and white.
The built in digital camera allows for 0.3 megapixels of resolution, but it can also record video and features a four times digital zoom.
Amazingly enough, multimedia functions are well supported. The Nokia 6085 can play many of the most popular video files as well as all of the most popular music files. There is also support for FM radio and visual radio. Furthermore, the 4MB of memory can be expanded via microSD cards.
Other features include a small phone book, Bluetooth 2.0 support, an alarm, a calendar, a to-do list, a notepad, an expense manager, a stopwatch, a calculator, a number of voice commands, a voice recorder, a speakerphone, email support, and push to talk support.
