Myths and History of the Vanilla Plant

Extraction of the Vanilla

The alcohol is then distilled to obtain the essential oil. The main components of vanilla essential oils are Vanillin Hydroxybenzaldehyde Nike Shox Turbo, Isobutyric Acid, Eugenol, Caproic Acid and acetic acid.
Uses
Vanilla essential oil is used in massage oils, balms and lotions. It isn't generally used in soap making owing to the delicate character of the vanilla aroma. It is frequently used in addition to other essential oils to compliment and enhance their scents. It is also reputed to have anti-oxidant properties and has been used a sedative and anti-depressant. As with all essential oils you should not ingest pure vanilla oil. Most of the products flavored with 'vanilla' do not contain this essential oil but a synthetic substitute. |
