It's an old expression in England and probably elsewhere as well, because there is a world wide appreciation of the therapeutic effects of stopping what you are doing for a cup of tea. So much so, that in a lot of places, a proper ritual must be observed.

However, I do know the time tried and tested, proper, English way of making a pot of tea.
First you need a proper, ceramic, preferably brown, teapot. You also need a kettle filled with fresh water and a source of heat to bring the water completely to the boil. Next, the tea is to measured into the pot. One spoonful for every person and one for the pot. Let stand for four minutes and then pour it out.
I prefer it black, but some lesser purists like a little milk and some even lesser than that Air Max 2011, use sugar. The way to drink this tea is to slurp it off the top of the cup while it is still piping hot.
